Gum contouring may be combined with other cosmetic treatments such as teeth reshaping and bonding to repair damaged teeth, change tooth discoloration, at low cost and less time.

Procedures for Gum Reshaping
By reshaping of the gum we can restore the natural proportions of your teeth. There are two procedures used to achieve this, simple soft tissue gum sculpting for subtle but effective improvement, or surgical lifting of the gum for more severe cases.
We use gum contouring to remove excess gum to improve the look of uneven gum lines or gummy smiles. With this type of treatment it really does depend on how much excess gum is showing as to which treatment would be most suitable for you.
Surgical Gum Lift
If you are looking to just take away a millimetre or so of gum then the gum reshaping treatment is quick and easy and takes a matter of hours to heal. Any more than approximately two millimetres of gum would require a different treatment altogether – a surgical gum lift, and the healing time is much longer – usually three to four months.
Gum reshaping is usually done in conjunction with veneers treatment, as the gum is likely to just grow back down without them. What can sometimes happen is that when the gum is taken away the tooth underneath is also likely to be a bit more yellow in color than the rest of your teeth too, so you need to be aware of that.
Procedure Cost
The cost of simple gum sculpting is less then the surgical gum lift, and veneers would definitely be required in this case as the teeth will be more unsightly after removing so much gum which may cost extra.
Gum Line Contouring
For those clients with low or uneven gum levels a laser gum reshaping treatment can correct this. If a client has a gummy smile a painless gum lift can be offered.
